I took this class during a five week summer session, and Dr. Groves made it easy to understand and fun. The lab is monotonous but he has no control over that. The concepts covered in class were easy to understand with his teaching method and he really tries to connect with his students. He is a really nice guy and fun in office hours. I recommend him to everyone. The quizzes and tests were fair. For reference, I took this as a biology major going into my third year.

I was blocked into his 7am class MWF. It was rough waking up so early. He didn't ever give homework, unless you didn't finish the lab report. The weekly quizzes were hard to score a perfect due to random inclusion of element symbols that we were apparently expected to know (he told us day one not to memorize the periodic table). His midterms were pretty difficult, but doable if you study hard and really take the time to understand the material. I recommend going to his office hours often if you don't understand anything. He's not the worst teacher to have, but if you want an A expect to work for it.

He is a very chill teacher, he explains the subject very well and makes it entertaining. During labs he plays music and will let you recommend songs, and most of the time we got out early. The labs aren't too bad and you can always go to his office hours and he will help you out if you need it. The midterms aren't bad either as long as you go over all of this slides and the practice problems.

Dr. Groves was one of the best professors I've had. He has a great dry sense of humor, really tries to get to know his students, and walks through the material at a pace that most people can handle. He plays music during the lab and helps make the labs fun. I had TR 6-9 pm and we generally got out .5-1 hour early. He didn't give us homework and we also didn't need to do the pre-labs, unlike most other 128 classes.

Groves is one of the best professors I've had at Poly. Knowledgeable to no end but understands that students can struggle with concepts so he makes sure to lay out everything clearly. The whole class is quizzes once a week (with questions directly based off lecture, rewarding good note taking) with labs (you'll have plenty of time to finish) and midterms/finals, which were harder but completely doable. He plays music during labs and takes music requests, and is a really chill dude on top of it. 10/10 class and professor.

I love Groves! He was the first chem professor I had that actually made me interested and excited to go to class. I found his midterms and quizzes very appropriate for the class and they followed the lecture closely. He was also very good about cutting out unnecessary parts of labs and lectures to make it reasonable and relevant. Take his class!!
